Satimage has release Airport signal 2.1 a tool that will help you to monitor your Wifi signal and allow you to test various configurations for your hotspot so that you can find the best spot to place either your wireless access point or your computer. This utility relies 100% on XNetwork 2.0 for accessing info about the Wifi hotspots around you.

XNetwork 2.0 will be released in a few days, this new version version of XNetwork is now a universal binary allowing (lucky) people having a MacTel to run XNetwork natively. In this release you will also be able to connect to third party access points that only allow you to enter ASCII passwords (5 or 13 characters) or hexadecimal WEP Keys (10/26 characters long).

Several bugs relative to the connection to WEP encrypted networks have been removed.

XNetwork has been redesigned to remove an old unjustified dependency on a Cocoa bundle.

Finally, this version of XNetwork will be released under the GNU GPL licence, allowing other developers to take part to the development of XNetwork and to fix bugs or enhance XNetwork.

XNetwork 1.3 is an upgrade to XNetwork 1.0 (XNetwork 1.2 was not officialy announced), this version of XNetwork is compatible with Tiger & Panther.

XNetwork is an osax allowing scripters to change their wireless configuration on the fly, discover networks around them, either managed or ad hoc networks.

XNetwork is an osax for Mac OS X (10.3.x) that allows scripters to script their wireless configuration, they are offered several commands :

switching the Airport card on/off
detecting wireless networks
- wireless networks with an access point
- ad-hoc networks (computer to computer network)
connecting to a wireless network
- wireless networks with an access point
- ad-hoc networks (computer to computer network)
- WEP is supported
